However, their charges were very high and they committed to bring results in 7-8 months. For me it was difficult to wait that long and I was not in a position to pay the heavy monthly fees and so I decided to do it on my own.

Hey, if price is an issue, then why don’t you try freelancers. There are a number of freelancing websites and you can find hundreds of good freelance SEO experts holding good reviews. You can try the one with the lowest bid and good result’s commitment in a shorter time period. 

Oh thank you very much, but I can’t pass on the highly sensitive information like FTP password, control panel password etc to any freelancer. For me its too risky and sorry I say I don’t have trust on their efficiency as they drop the project once they get the better one.
